Three volumes of Midrash Rabbah, with Matnot Kehunah and Asifat Amarim: Shemot (with Midrash Esther), Vayikra (with Midrash Shir HaShirim) and Bamidbar (with Midrash Ruth). Lviv, 1859. Three parts (of five).
Ownership inscriptions in two of the volumes, attesting that the book belongs to R. Yisrael Dushinsky. Signatures and inscriptions of his son, R. Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky.
R. Yisrael Dushinsky (ca. 1831-1892), disciple of the Ketav Sofer and prominent disciple of the Maharam Schick.
His son, R. Yosef Tzvi Dushinky – the Maharitz Dushinsky (1868-1949), leading Hungarian Torah scholar and yeshiva dean. Later chief rabbi of the Edah HaCharedit and leader of Orthodox Jewry in Eretz Israel.
Three volumes. 22.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains and wear. Shemot volume: complete, in original binding, torn and detached. Vayikra volume: complete, in original binding, damaged. Bamidbar volume: lacking title page and leaf 1. Without binding.
