Letter of Blessing from the Lubavitcher Rebbe – Tammuz 1958 – Approbation and Blessing for a Matchmaking Proposal – Blessings for the Hitvaadut of Chag HaGeulah 12th-13th Tammuz

Letter from Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneersohn – the Lubavitcher rebbe, with his signature. Brooklyn NY, 22nd Tammuz 1958.
Typewritten on the official stationery of the rebbe, with his signature and several corrections in his handwriting.

Addressed to R. Chaim Shalom Segal in Jerusalem, in response to his letter about a matchmaking proposal (presumably for his son R. Pinchas David), shortly after Chag HaGeulah 12th-13th Tammuz, holiday commemorating the liberation of the rebbe's father-in-law, Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch from Soviet imprisonment in 1927.
The rebbe writes: "the proposal is suitable", and blesses him: "May it be at the opportune time, both in material and spiritual matters".
Further in the letter, the rebbe relates to the Hitvaadut which took place on Chag HaGeulah of the Rayatz, and blesses: "May the impact of the Hitvaadut remain for the entire year… may each and every one of us be redeemed amongst the entire Jewish people, from all disturbances, both in material and spiritual realms, and be able to worship G-d with joy and gladness of heart".

R. Chaim Shalom HaLevi Segal (1918-1983), founder and mashpia of the Chabad Beit Yehuda synagogue in Nachlaot, Jerusalem, sixth generation descendant of the Baal HaTanya. He studied extensively Rashi's commentary on the Torah and authored the Tosefet Rashi series on the Bible.
