Sefer HaShorashim by the Radak – Venice, 1529 – Printed by Daniel Bomberg
Sefer HaShorashim, the second part of the Michlol by R. David Kimchi (the Radak). Venice: Daniel Bomberg, 1529.
The last leaf contains two poems praising this edition, composed by R. Eliyahu Ashkenazi (Bachur): "…this work was printed six times… but this printing is recognized for its beauty and correctness…".
Censorship authorizations (in Italian) on penultimate leaf, including inscription in Hebrew: "the derogatory words about pagans do not refer to Christians…", followed by the signature of the censor Girolamo da Durazzano (this inscription was presumably written by an apostate censor).
Censorship expurgations in several places (in some cases, the original text was deleted and replaced in handwriting).
[2] pages, 5-570 columns, [2] pages. 28.5 cm. Good-fair condition, first leaves in fair condition. Stains. Open tears and worming, affecting text, mostly repaired with paper. Large open tears to title page and final leaf, repaired with paper. Open tears to censorship expurgations on one leaf, due to ink erosion. New leather binding, with minor defects.
