Al Naharot Bavel - Illustrated Leaf - Europe, 1797
Al Naharot Bavel - A handwritten illustrated leaf. [Europe], [1797].
Ink and watercolor on paper.
The Psalm Al Naharot Bavel, customarily said on weekdays before Birkat HaMazon. Written [in scribal script] in the center of the leaf, framed by colorful illustrated frames. Written at the top of the leaf: "On weekdays,  before reciting Birkat HaMazon, say this". The name of the scribe surrounds the round frame: "Written by Zvi Hirsh son of Yitzchak HaLevi Premsila", and at the bottom is a colophon with the date 1797.
Possibly the writer is Zvi Hirsh son of R' Yitzchak Premsila of Prague, editor and proofreader in the Proops Press in Amsterdam (his name is mentioned in the Tikun Sofrim printed there in 1751, and in the book Shulchan HaTahor, in 1770).
Leaf, 15X20 cm. Fair condition. Stains, tears and damages, professionally restored.
