Manuscript, Siddur - Magez, North Yemen, 1940
Manuscript, "Prayer siddur for everyday, with Shabbat prayers". The city of Magez, [North-Yemen], 1940.
Folk writing, partly vowelized. The name of the writer appears on the title page: "David (Da'ud) Ibn Kurtzan".
Magez - a small village in Jamaa in North Yemen, north of Saada on the way to Hidan- al-Sham. In the beginning of the 20th century, the village's Jewish community numbered about 10 families. In the winter of 1941, a heavy earthquake hit the village claiming the lives of some members of the small community. Before the mass Aliya to Israel, six families with a total of 28 people (5 men, 8 women, 6 girls and 9 boys) comprised the community and only some of them immigrated to Israel. (According to Encyclopedia L'Kehillot Teiman, Vol. 2, p. 292).
