Letter of Good Wishes with Responsum by Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv - Jerusalem, 1975
Two-page letter, handwritten and signed by R. Yosef Shalom Elyashiv. Jerusalem, Kislev 1975.
Written to his disciple R. Aharon David Dunner, upon his appointment as dayan in the Beit Din of the London Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations, with warm blessings: "It should be His will that the entire city should be subject to your authority as rabbi and you should be successful in all your endeavors, and G-d should help you strengthen and elevate the Torah and the rabbinate and that you should be a channel for spreading love of the Name of Heaven".
Following the letter is a draft of a halachic responsum to R. Dunner concerning the laws of a heter iska and the laws of chatzitza [printed in Kovetz Teshuvot, Vol. 3, Yoreh De'ah, Siman 127].
R. Yosef Shalom Elyashiv (1910-2012), a leading posek for more than 70 years, known for his exceptional diligence and deep and thorough knowledge of all facets of Torah enabling him to rule clearly on every matter. During the last 20 years of his life, he led Torah Jewry in Israel and abroad. However, even earlier he was involved in rabbinic and halachic matters of various communities. Rabbi Elyashiv did not print his Torah novellae by himself but his disciples printed the "comments" from his lectures, expanding to hundreds of thousands of responsa compiled in four volumes of Kovetz Teshuvot.
Official stationery, 25 cm. Good condition. Folding marks.
