A critical edition of the Bible, edited by Benjamin Kennicott (1718-1783) an English churchman and Hebraist.
Hebrew and Latin text, showing textual variations. At the end of the second volume, an additional essay - "Dissertatio generalis" [General Dissertation] - findings of a comprehensive study by Kennicott comparing textual variations of Hebrew and Samaritan manuscripts.
This edition of the bible is one of the earliest critical editions, based on many years of research and collation of various manuscripts.
