Collection of Letters Concerning Torah and the Rabbinate
Collection of dozens of letters sent to Rabbi Natan Friedman, author of Otzar HaRabbanim. Most of the letters contain responsa from well-known rabbis, on matters of Torah, halacha, books, and rabbinate. [Also halachic rulings from the Chazon Ish; letter about reliability of the book Igrot Sofrim, and many other matters].
Attached to some of the letters is a copy of Rabbi Natan Tzvi Friedman's reply.
Included are letters handwritten by Rabbi Tzvi Pesach Frank, Rabbi Shlomo Tenne, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, Rabbi Shilo Refael, Rabbi Shlomo Katzin, Rabbi Yehoshua Menachem Arenberg, Rabbi Sarya Devlitzki and more (detailed list is included).
The letter from Rabbi Shlomo Tenne deals with the polemic which has arisen due to a ruling in the book Netzer Mata'ai, printed by Rabbi Friedman in 1957. Rabbi Tenne advised Rabbi Friedman to discuss this ruling with Rabbi Tzvi Pesach Frank and with the Tchebiner Ga'on, as well as with "The young scholars Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashuv, member of the great Beit Din, or Rabbi Auerbach".
Rabbi Natan Tzvi Friedman was Rabbi of Shikun Hei in Bnei Brak, author of Otzar HaRabbanim and responsa book Netzer Mata'ai, 1914-1993. See more about him in item ???
Altogether over 55 letters, on 87 leaves, many of which are written on both sides.
