The present volume contains numerous Hebrew poems, many with themes relating to current events: A poem entitled Adolf Hitler; “A man of blood, you are cursed in the mouth of every living being” (pp. 75-77); both an elegy and a eulogy for the Chofetz Chaim (pp. 86 and 99); a poem in honor of the birthday of Maimonides (pp. 132-37); lengthy elegies upon the death of R. Abraham Isaac Kook and the Rogatchover Gaon (pp. 154 and 170); a poem concerning the unrest in Eretz Israel in 1938 (pp. 218-20).
The author (1857-1938), active in the affairs of the Agudath HaRabanim, served as Rabbi of Chelsea, Massachusetts from 1895 until shortly before his death.
