***Auction Highlight*** 1807 BD-1 Draped Bust Quarter Eagle Gold $2.5 Graded au50 By SEGS. 1807 $2 ½ Draped Bust Gold Quarter Eagle, BD-1 Variety, au50 SEGS. Only 6,812 quarter eagles were struck in 1807. Although a small total, it was the highest annual mintage of this denomination since its introduction in 1796. John Dannreuther estimates a survivorship of 250 to 350 pieces, making the issue popular as a type coin. This representative displays partly lustrous yellow-gold surfaces and excellent eye appeal. Trivial strike softness is noted at the centermost high points. We have included another au50 for your comparison.
