This variety is distinguished by the positioning of the O in OFFICE beneath the N of UNITED. A splendidly preserved coin, this is one of the finest examples known of this popular territorial. Unlike many Assay pieces, the fields of this coin do not display the heavy metal flow often seen. Lightly abraded on each side with no obvious or singly distracting blemishes, the striking details are uncommonly well defined with sharp shield and arrow feather details in the center of the obverse. Rich green-gold color covers the surfaces of this important coin. It is estimated that less than 35 uncirculated examples survive of this Important issue. The example at hand is Tied for 7th finest known with 1 ms62+, 4 ms63 and a lone ms64 example surviving. The last ms62 to come to auction was in April of 2014 and it realized $30,550 A Key Date's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin.
