Vintage Lion of Lucern Bookend/Paperweight
Modelled after the Lion Monument rock relief in Lucerne, Switzerland. Depicting a dying lion beside a spear and shield.
Marked "Helvetiorum Fidei Ac Virtuti" meaning "To the Loyalty and Bravery of the Swiss." Commemorating the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution. Sticker from Gargoyles N.Y.C. on base. #lion #lionmonument #frenchrevolution
