American Folk Art Molded Copper Eagle Weathervane
An American Folk Art Molded Copper Full Body Eagle Weathervane, Circa 1900. Modeled with spread wings, open mouth with tongue, perched on an orb above a directional arrow and cast directionals, raised on a later metal stand.
Dimensions: Height overall 55in; width 24in; depth 26in.
Provenance: Property from a Maryland Collection.
Condition:
Wear commensurate with age and exposure to the outdoor elements. Heavy wear, verdigris, dings, dents and small losses to the weathervane overall. Bending and small losses throughout. Dents to orb below directionals. The casting to directionals are poor; possibly later. The wrought iron metalwork with heavy pitting. The turned wood finials to the rear of directional arrows are possibly later added.
