ALBRECHT DURER "THE MASS OF ST. GREGORY" WOODCUT
Woodcut "The Mass of St. Gregory" on laid paper by listed artist, Albrecht Durer (Germany, 1471 - 1528), signed with monogram & date lower left. Art measures 11" h x 7.5" w, matted & presented in a frame measuring 30" x 27.5".
Artist bio: Durer was a German Renaissance artist renowned for his masterful engravings, woodcuts, and paintings. Dürer was a member of the Nuremberg Guild of Painters and maintained connections with the intellectual circles of his time, including Erasmus. His famous works include Melencolia I, The Knight, Death, and the Devil, and Adam and Eve. He exhibited his prints widely across Europe, revolutionizing the art of printmaking.
Appears to be in good overall condition. A Meder H impression showing the crack now running to the upper border and the many wormholes in the effective block.
