RAMON ALVA CANAL 'ROLLING HILLS LANDSCAPE' OIL PAINTING
Original landscape oil painting on board by listed artist, Ramon Alva Canal (MX, 1892 - 1985), signed lower left. Art measures 23.5" h x 16.5" presented in a frame measuring 34.5" x 28".
Artist bio: Canal was a member of the National Union of Painters, organized by José Vasconcelos and formed part of the current estridentista next to Fermín Revueltas with whom he collaborated in the realization of murals. He painted "The arrival of the Spaniards and the cross planted on new lands" in San Ildefonso in 1922, the first fresco of the twentieth century in Mexico, alongside the start of the muralist movement. Universidad Veracruzana he organized several tributes like the Taller de Grafica Popular and Academy at the Ministry of Education.
Appears to be in good overall condition.
