inscribed above the depiction "Norimberg, agri, fidissima descrip.", depicting the area around Nuremberg, reaching as far as Erlangen in the north, Hersbruck in the east, Schwabach in the south and Fürth in the west, cartouche in the style of the time in the lower area, inscribed and dated in the plate at lower left "Cum privilegio decennali, Imp. Reg. Cancel. Brabantiae 1590", published by Abraham Ortelius, partly coloured copper engraving, somewhat yellowed, framed under passepartout (spotted) and behind glass, dimensions of the image about 30,5 x 23,5 cm. Artist's info: Flemish geographer and cartographer (1527 Antwerp to 1598 Antwerp), descended from an Örtel (Oertel) family who immigrated to the Netherlands from Augsburg, is considered the founder of modern cartography, after studying mathematics, Greek and Latin in Antwerp worked as a map and book dealer, trained as a cartographer, published the first edition of his "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum" in 1570, which was later published in 42 editions and 7 languages, representing the first collection of maps in book form, Source: Thieme-Becker, Wikipedia and Internet.
