Figures on the escalator to the underground, which ends in a wide square, the first underground line opened in Munich in 1971, with regard to the upcoming Olympic Games in Munich, the network of lines was emphatically expanded in the following years, Palm's interest has always been the human figure in urban space, the opening of the Munich underground seems to have occupied the artist for a long time - he dedicated several artistic works to this theme, present large-format sketch, mixed media (crayon, pencil and coloured pencil) on original mounted cardboard, indistinctly signed and dated "Joachim Palm [19]72" at lower left, enclosed slightly modified print after the sketch, mixed media (coloured aquatint, drypoint with partial red hand-colouring in coloured pencil), inscribed at left below the plate as artist's impression "e.a." below the plate on the left and indistinctly signed by hand "Joachim Palm" on the right, each with slight signs of age, each framed under glass in an interchangeable frame, dimensions of folding drawing: ca. 100 x 74 cm, dimensions of plate etching: 57 x 48,5 cm.
