einfühlsame Darstellung eines Hagebuttenzweigs mit Früchten, Aquarell über Graphit, unter der Darstellung in Blei rechts signiert und datiert "Schaefer-Ast 1933" sowie links betitelt "Hagebutten", rückseitig Stempel "Nachlass Prof. Schaefer-Ast *7.1.1890 +15.9.1951" sowie Nummer 1605 und Signatur, braunfleckig, Schmutzspuren, hinterlegter Einriss und Papier gegilbt, Blattmaße ca. 52 x 42 cm. Künstlerinfo: auch Albert-Schäfer-Ast, dt. Zeichner und Karikaturist (1890 Barmen bis 1951 Weimar), Lehre als Bildhauer, 1906-11 Studium an der Kunstgewerbeschule Düsseldorf, tätig für diverse Zeitschriften, Teilnahme am 1. Weltkrieg, von den Nationalsozialisten als „entartet“ eingestuft und teilweise Arbeits- und Ausstellungsverbot, unter Auflagen ab Mitte der 1930er Jahre wieder tätig, 1943 bei einem Bombenangriff auf Berlin Verlust seiner Wohnung, Umzug nach Prerow auf dem Darß, ab 1946 wieder als Karikaturist für den Ulenspiegel tätig, Ernennung zum Professor an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Baukunst und bildende Künste in Weimar, Quelle: Vollmer, Eisold „Künstler in der DDR“ und Wikipedia.

emotional depiction of a rose-hip branch with fruits, watercolour over graphite, signed and dated in pencil below the depiction on the right "Schaefer-Ast 1933" and titled on the left "Hagebutten", stamp on the reverse "Nachlass Prof. Schaefer-Ast *7.1.1890 +15.9.1951" as well as number 1605 and signature on the reverse, brownish stains, traces of dirt, backed tear and yellowed paper, sheet size approx. 52 x 42 cm. Artist's info: also Albert-Schäfer-Ast, German draughtsman and caricaturist (1890 Barmen to 1951 Weimar), apprenticeship as a sculptor, 1906-11 studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Düsseldorf, worked for various magazines, participated in the 1st World War, was dismissed by the National Socialists as an artist. Participated in World War I, classified as "degenerate" by the National Socialists and partially banned from working and exhibiting, worked again under certain conditions from the mid-1930s, lost his flat in a bombing raid on Berlin in 1943, moved to Prerow on the Darß, worked again as a caricaturist for the Ulenspiegel from 1946, appointed professor at the State Academy of Architecture and Fine Arts in Weimar, Source: Vollmer, Eisold "Künstler in der DDR" and Wikipedia.
