Prinzessin von Polen und Sachsen und Kurfürstin von Bayern (1728 Dresden bis 1797 München), Halbfigurenbildnis mit dem Sankt Katharina-Orden und Hermelinpelz-Stola, Öl auf Leinwand, um 1750, unsigniert, Werkstatt oder nach Georges Desmarées (1697-1776), ungerahmt, auf originalem Keilrahmen, Maße 86 x 66 cm. Künstlerinfo: Georges Desmarées (1697-1776), nach dem Tod der Eltern kam Desmarées nach Stockholm, wo er die Malschule von Peter Martin van Mytens (dem Älteren) besuchte. Seit 1720 war er selbständiger Porträtmaler und ging ab dem Frühjahr 1724 auf eine Studienreise. So reiste er erst nach Amsterdam und ging dann nach Nürnberg, wo er die Zeichenakademie besuchte. 1725 gelangte er nach Venedig und wurde Schüler von Giovanni Battista Piazzetta. 1730 wurde er von Karl Albrecht, dem Kurfürsten von Bayern und späteren Kaiser Karl VII., an den Münchner Hof berufen und erhielt den Titel des kurfürstlichen Hofmalers. Ab 1743 erfolgte die Berufung an zahlreiche deutsche Fürstenhöfe. Die bedeutendsten und umfangreichsten Aufträge erhielt er von dem Kölner Kurfürsten Clemens August I. von Bayern. Über diesen Auftraggeber erreichte Desmarées auch Kunden wie die Erzbischöfe Friedrich Karl von Schönborn-Buchheim und Johann Philipp Anton von und zu Frankenstein. Aber auch der Fürstbischof von Mainz Johann Friedrich Karl von Ostein und dessen Nachfolger Emmerich Joseph von Breidbach zu Bürresheim bestellten Bilder bei Desmarées. Er war u. a. Lehrer von Johann Joseph Scheubel III. (1733-1801) in Bamberg. Von 1745 bis 1749 sowie von 1752 bis 1754 weilte er am Bonner Hof. 1756 ging er zurück nach München, wo er kurz vor seinem 79. Princess of Poland and Saxony and Electress of Bavaria (1728 Dresden to 1797 Munich), half-length portrait with the Order of Saint Catherine and ermine fur stole, oil on canvas, c. 1750, unsigned, workshop or after Georges Desmarées (1697-1776), unframed, on original stretcher, dimensions 86 x 66 cm. Artist info: Georges Desmarées (1697-1776), after the death of his parents Desmarées came to Stockholm, where he attended the painting school of Peter Martin van Mytens (the elder). From 1720 he was an independent portrait painter and went on a study trip from the spring of 1724. So he first travelled to Amsterdam and then went to Nuremberg, where he attended the drawing academy. In 1725 he came to Venice and became a pupil of Giovanni Battista Piazzetta. In 1730 he was appointed to the Munich court by Karl Albrecht, Elector of Bavaria and later Emperor Karl VII, and received the title of court painter to the Elector. From 1743 he was appointed to numerous German princely courts. The most important and extensive commissions he received were from the Cologne Elector Clemens August I of Bavaria. Through this patron Desmarées also reached clients such as the archbishops Friedrich Karl von Schönborn-Buchheim and Johann Philipp Anton von und zu Frankenstein. But also the Prince-Bishop of Mainz Johann Friedrich Karl von Ostein and his successor Emmerich Joseph von Breidbach zu Bürresheim ordered paintings from Desmarées. Among others he was the teacher of Johann Joseph Scheubel III (1733-1801) in Bamberg. From 1745 to 1749 and from 1752 to 1754 he stayed at the court in Bonn.
