Benin Bronze Figures in a Boat
Rare form antique Benin bronze, River Boat with nine figures inc seated Oba with family and military guards. This bronze , rare and likely unique is a casting C. 1902 from the re=estblishment of The Royal Benin Bronze Works. 27"L 11"H
Condition: Part 1 of several sales to offer contents of Clinton Mass “The Gallery of African Art†, the now closed museum founded by Gordon Lankton. Being sold without reserves in several sessions over the next few months. More than 700 lots from 32 West African tribes will be included. Exceptional rarities in this sale are Lots 3, 13, 144, 175, 179 and 181each of which is elaborately described and illustrated with many photos as are all others ( Approx 100 lots offered in this first sale.
