Largest Taino Figural Carved Tri Stone
Huge, heavy and highly impressive, early, of late 2nd to third phase. Circa 1000-1200 AD. The stone is off white, a slightly reddish tan, the color is somewhat influenced by the soil it was found in. Here, I have a few of the much less wide or bellied out, the uncarved early ones, most of those are higher than this carved one but probably not of the equal mass. Here, a strong Zemi head with body at back ending in frog type legs. These of female breast form, at top here is best called an owl head. Octogenarian cataloguer cannot lift this massive thing, it is plus 12" long, 8 1/2" high and over 7"W. Fine condition, incidental small bruise around its mouth.
