Very Fine and Early Taino Ballgame Yoke
A powerful and early example of full form , 2nd phase, 1000-1200 AD. Exceptionally carved all over and with a superb relief of a humanoid/Zemi and other fine carvings in a rich dark yellowish -green stone . As best speculated this form is an over the shoulder handicap or penalty in execution of the important ballgame. Of museum quality, a large substantial oval form in fine condition. Never previously offered . From our octagenarian consignor source. All Taino items from him are guaranteed and will be identified as to source. Obtained 32-50 years back. 15 1/2” x 12 1/2” across 3” deep
