Dedication by Rabbi Yeshaya Orenstein: Rare! Torah Or Vederech Chaim - First Edition Horodna, 1823

Torah Or Vederech Chaim, section I. Comprehensive work on Hilchot Shechita and Treifot in Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah, divided into two sections: Torah Or - Piskei halachot, edited and compiled; Derech Chaim - Pilpul and Iyun of the words of the Rishonim and Acharonim. By the Gaon Rabbi Chaim ben Rabbi Binyamin Broda.

First edition - Horodna, 1823. [3], 86 leaves. In the National Library, the book appears, of course, in the Rare Book Collection. Approbations by contemporary leading rabbis.

Partly bluish paper. Ancient, loose binding. Blemished leather spine. Moth perforations and damage. Fair overall condition.

The writer of the dedication is the Gaon Rabbi yeshaya Orenstein (1836-1909) one of the leaders of the Jewish Yishuv of Jerusalem in the 19th century and one of the founders of its new neighborhoods. The founder and Rosh yeshiva of Ohel Moshe. Was a Shadar, Chabad Chassid and supervisor of Kollel Chabad.

The bride's father who is mentioned in the dedication signed the flyleaf. Possibly, it is Rabbi Shemaryahu Yosef Kleppish, the son of Rabbi Aharon Yaakov Av Beit Din of Shgiadora, author of Minchat Aharon. Was the in-law of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Zilberberg, the Rav of Vierashov who published the book Zayit Ra'anan by his Rav, who was also his aforementioned son-in-law's grandfather.
