Blackfeet Beaded Dance Wand w/ Beaded Drop 1940's
This is a unique beaded dance wand from the Blackfeet Native American Indians dating to circa 1940-1950's. The piece shows a solid carved wood willow handle which is completely covered in Indian tanned hide with a sinew sewing being adorned by linear patterns of all early glass trade seed beads in medium green, sky padre blue, corn yellow, cobalt and red. The dance wand also shows a fine drop at the bottom of the handle showing a typical triangular long design made of Indian tanned hide having a period correct glass trade beaded geometric pattern in cobalt, chalk white and greasy amber with long hand cut fringe at the end. The gripping area shows a nice patina from much age and use. At the top center of the want is an Indian tanned tied on dew claw. The piece measures overall 18"L.
