Robert Berkeley Green "The Bathers" Painting
Robert Berkeley Green (American, 1909-2007). Oil on canvas painting titled "The Bathers" depicting a cubist beach scene, ca. 1952. Initialed along the lower right. With a label from the Department of Painting at the University of Kansas affixed to the verso.
Provenance: Estate of the artist; Private Minnesota Collection.
Unframed; height: 20 in x width: 24 in. Framed; height: 23 1/2 in x width: 27 3/4 in.
Condition: There are no major losses or tears. Colors are bold and bright. The surface is stable. The verso of the canvas is covered by a board and due to the nature of the framing it was unable to be viewed out of frame. The extreme edges of the exposed canvas along the verso show signs of wear and are frayed. There is wear to the frame. No signs of restoration under UV light.
