16th/17th c. Chinese Gilt Bronze Figure of Zhenwu
Chinese Ming Dynasty gilt lacquered bronze figure of the Taoist deity Zhenwu, 16th to 17th century. He is portrayed seated with his hands on his knees - the right in apana mudra. His long hair is combed back smoothly and his armor is cast with a dragon. Red painted accession numbers along the base "O.L.93.13." With a modern small gilt box as a stand for the statue to rest upon.
Height: 11 3/4 in x width: 8 in x depth: 5 1/4 in.
Condition: No major bends, breaks, losses, or restorations. Only remnants of the gilt lacquer decoration remain. Wear to the display box.
