Girl Skipping Rope Iron Bank
Made J. & E. Stevens Company Cromwell, CT - Circa Mid 1890's Provenance: Al Caron Collection, Bill & Wendy Jones Excellent Plus Condition Many collectors suggest that the Girl Skipping Rope is the prettiest and most significant mechanical toy bank made at the close of the nineteenth century. Additionally, it represents the most complex example of toy engineering imaginable. When disassembled, you would find that the bank is composed of about fifty different parts, including a powerful brass spring and several cast iron discs that effectuate the girl's skipping action. This beautiful bank was selected by the Mechanical Bank Collectors of America club as their mascot. This example of the bank features the girl wearing a powder blue dress. It functions exceptionally well and skips eight times.
