Girl Skipping Rope - Cast Iron Mechanical Bank
Scarce Light Blue Dress Color. Made by the J. & E. Stevens Company. Cromwell, Connecticut - Circa 1890. From the Ed Singer Collection. For most mechanical bank collectors, the Girl Skipping Rope represents the closest thing there is to a Holy Grail. In fact, the Mechanical Bank Collectors of America (MBCA) designated it as their mascot when the club was founded in the late 1950's. It is regarded as the most complex toy bank ever devised and brought to market. To operate the bank, you must give the mechanism a strong counter clockwise turn until you hear it lock into place. Pushing the lever downwards engages the powerful brass spring and iron flywheels, causing the girl to skip 6 or 7 times.
Condition: Pristine Perfect Condition.
