Drummer Boy Bell Toy
By the Gong Bell Mfg. Company. East Hampton, Ct. - Late 1890's - 10" Long. Without a doubt, this sensational Drummer Boy illustrates the most elaborately complex bell ringing toy brought to market in the late nineteenth century. It depicts a drum major with his drum (here a bell) strapped to the front of his chest. As the toy is played with, he strikes the bell with the chime sticks that he holds in his hands. The colorful toy also features a spread-winged eagle at the front and a giant pink rose at his feet. The flower possesses no specific symbolic meaning; it was added purely to introduce extra color to the design palette. This represents a highly superior example of the Drummer Boy bell toy.
Condition: Pristine Vivid Paint - Great Patina.
