Oversized Fire Pumper - Cast Iron Toy
Made by Wilkins Toy Works. Keene, New Hampshire - Circa 1895 - 24" L. This magnificent fire toy captures what it must have felt like to race to the scene of a blaze in the late 19th century. We watch as three impressively muscled horses hurtle the fire pumper through the streets; in this case, the parlor floor. During this mad dash, the firemen needed to remain alert to make certain the apparatus wouldn't overturn on the street curves. Oversized cast iron toys are extremely rare and desirable. This specimen is a true beauty.
