Signed Original King Louis XVI Bronze, by L. Jeannest 1781-1856
Fine French bronze bust of King Louis XVIth on raised brass and Malachite stone base, by Louis-François Jeannest 1781 - 1856. Known as a fine medallionist Jeannest was active early in his life and cast numerous bronze and Empire period busts of Generals and Kings. Signed below the right shoulder "L. Jeannest" For Reference to the artist see S. Lami, Dictionnaire des sculpteurs de l'ecole fransaise, vol. 7, Paris, 1919, pg. 209-210.
