Indian Painted & Gessoed Sipar Shield, Circa 1800
Large 18th/19th century Indian painted/gessoed Sipar shield Circa 1800 with four pierced brass shield bosses. The entire surface painted in high relief with blossoms and hilt grasses(some losses). The reverse with remains of leather (enarmes) and decorated with clouds, This is a genuine antique and not a tourist piece. Possibly even older than stated. Size 20 1/4" W
