Rare Ifugao Brass Dung-dungs w/ Beads
Two rare Ifugao brass dung-dungs, with feathers and beads. These were worn on the top of the head of a kadangyan woman during ceremonies and funerals specifically of kadangyan women. Each figure stands with arms outstretched, cream and ochre colored feathers on their heads and trailing beads, with black and blue bead detailing throughout. Canvas loin cloths original to the brass figures. These rare figurines only occur in two towns in the Kiangan area and are usually adorned with long strings of white embroidery beads (blue and black in this case) hanging down from the arms. The outstretched arms refer to a dancing person during the kanyaw celebration. Size of largest 4" H x 5 1/4" L
