US Military Officers Chapeau De Bras Hat
US officers military hat known as Chapeau De Bras American eagle in gilt brass reading above (E pluribus unum). Label to interior reads (The Lilley Co, Columbous Ohio). The "chapeau de bras" is a French term that translates to "arm hat" or "hat of the arm." In the context of the United States military, particularly during the late 18th and early 19th centuries the term "chapeau de bras" is often used to refer to the cocked hat worn by officers as part of their dress uniform.
