Beautiful "Virgen del Valle" Antique Dress Carving Santo
Old finely carved sculpture or Santo in wood and composite materials of the Virgen del Valle or Our Lady of the Valley a Roman Catholic title for the Virgin Mary who is Venerated in Venezuela and Argentina. She is on a wood painted with gilt base to the underside reading her name. The long flowing robes are beautifully painted in green with gilded scrolling and a large crown to the Virgin with the Christ Child holding a long flowing rosery.
The Virgin is known for her powers of healing and people come in hopes of being cured by her, particularly the sick and aged. Size 11 3/4" H
