Chavin Bone Incised Implements, 1968 Provenance
Peru, Cupisnique, Middle Phase, North Coast, circa 1200 - 800 BC. Well rendered incised carved fragments. One is a thin tubular honey color implement carved delicately all around with complex iconography, numbered 194 on reverse. The second a thicker white bone section, cracked and with losses, penned AA 106 on reverse. Both incised in fine line composition with heads and deities. Size of longest 5 3/8" L
ex-New York, New York collection, ex-Doctors Saul Tuttman and Gregory Siskind lifetime collection, New York, New York, USA. Acquired 1960s with penned number behind 194, and a black and white photo documenting the item with a date stamp of November 1968.
