West Africa, Ghana, Asante Royal court throne chair known as an Asipim or I stand form royal chair of the Asante culture. Exclusively used by chiefs and court figures with innumerable European brass appliques or tacks and " Mpeaboo " gold weight shaped decoration over the wood with hide frame. The top of the chair decorated with two finials known as "ntuatire", often in a so called eagle talons form. It is known that the more chairs or Asipim an Akan chief posses the more powerful they are, some less chief only posses four thrones while very powerful chief possess 14 or more. Size 31" H x 15" W
