Group of Two Asante Brass & Copper Forowa
Brilliantly hammered African brass and copper forowa vessels with lids. Cylindrical forowa with a conical lid made from sheets of both copper and brass, hammered designs throughout including birds, fish and leaves. Another cylindrical forowa with domed hammered lid has dots hammered throughout the lid with infinity banding to the base of the lid. Birds and fish hammered to the sides. Such forowa were used to store shea butter, a vegetable fat which used in foods, cosmetics and as a fuel for lamps. Size of largest 10" H x 7" W
Condition: Wear commensurate with age and use, some losses as shown.
