African Carved Voodoo Stake
Hand carved rare old African voodoo stake carved to depict a bound human in animal skin and leather straps. The head is carved with an elongated face, impressed cheeks, narrow slit eyes, and downturned lips. The figures head is removeable to allow for placing of cursed herbs, ashes of the cursed, or other ground herbs. Size 17 1/2" H, 20 3/4" H on included custom stand
Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials.
Condition: Some losses and patina throughout from age and use.
