Native Greenland Inuit (Inupiat) Peoples Doll, 20th c.
Doll crafted from various sections of cotton textile, beads, hair, and leather. The doll features a warm dressed male figure with headband and thick multilayered clothing, the boots decorated with red and blue traditional patterns of geometric shapes. Incredible bead work to shall in white, blue, violet and red beads. This particular examples seems to incorporate details known to the Greenland indigenous tribes and traditional dress worn by those greeting the arrival of tourist ships.

These dolls are often carry deep cultural, historical, and spiritual meanings. Different tribes and regions in Alaska have their own distinct doll-making traditions, each reflecting their unique way of life, environment, and heritage. Size 17 1/2" H
