Medieval Vellum Illuminated Manuscript Painting
Circa 10th to 12th century AD. Like the book of Kells with fine lettering and landscape scene in wreath cartouche. Vibrant color remains with red, yellow, blue and gold paint. A mystery of history not knowing what the original, much larger section, may have included. Size of sight 7 3/4" H x 5 3/4" W, size in frame 8 3/4" x 6 3/4" W
ex-New York, New York collection, ex-estate of Harry Wallace acquired 1990s, by descent to DB, New Paltz N.Y
Condition: Well preserved condition, wear to from commensurate with age, not inspected outside of frame.
