Native American Avian Baby Stone Pipe, 16th-18th C. or Earlier
North America, probably eastern woodlands, 16th-18th century or earlier stone baby bird or hawk effigy pipe carved from a single stone, probably steatite. The stone itself is dark grey with green and black throughout. The avian with a slender and slightly tapered down thin body of a young bird with upward pointed juvenile face and small beak as if looking up to a mother out of the nest. Size 7" L
Condition: As-is with soiling and minor surface wear.
