Filipino Bakunawa Mask, 20th Century
Large wood carved Bakunawa mask from the Philippines. Fantastically detailed wood carved mask with large sharp pointed teeth, devilish eyes, terminating spikes, and pierced wood work throughout. Bakunawa is a serpent-like dragon, believed to be the cause of earthquakes, eclipses, rain and wind. Size 24 3/4" L
Condition: Good condition throughout with some patina to base and reverse.
