Tikar clay Pygmy Guardian Statue
Central Africa, Cameroon, Grassfields and Western Grassfields, Tikar peoples terracotta red clay statue which is known as protective figure from the early to mid 20th century. Highly stylized male figure with a happy gaze and stung disc beads to his waist. Body well formed with enlarged cheeks and scarification. Rear with a opening for use as a vessel or ritual object. Size 7 3/4" H x 4" W (shoulder to shoulder) terracotta figure
Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials.
