Heavy Japanese Samurai Abumi Stirrups, Edo Period 1603-1868
Heavy Japanese Large pair of samurai warrior "Abumi" silver & gold decorated stirrups, Edo period 1603-1868, likely close to the 18th century. Each with fantastic steel exterior with a pierced avian form Mon openwork to the upper tang with belt loops intact. The face and body of the iron completely decorated with inlaid silver and gold patterns of flower blossoms and foliage. Interior with original red lacquer. Signed to the reverse of the ang with a long muti-character signature. Size 10" L x 10" H x 5" W, weight 2200 grams each
