Triangular Silver & Gold Overlay Amulet, 19th c.
Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria, circa early to mid 1800s. Silver and gold overlay triangle amulet. Beautiful form with a triangular base heavily gilt or overlaid in gold depicting Christ. Suspended by silver chain-link with an avian zoomorphic hook. Hammered shut the interior of the cross may contain a reliquary or holy remnants. Size 3" L x 1 1/2" W, weight 14 grams.
