Fine Blue & White 'Gu' Shaped Vase w/Archaistic Motifs, Qing Dynasty 17th-18th C.
Chinese, (Kangxi Period 1661-1722). Very Fine slender gu drinking ritual shaped vase with archaistic motifs painted in blue & white. The vase has a slightly bulbous center with lightly flared base and rare very widely flared top rim. The vase illustrates an earlier style of archaistic\ type decoration often seen on bronze with the animal mask taotiet which is painted to both sides. The lower rim also has two thin bands of blue lines which appear on the foot of the vase. Painted in porcelain cobalt blue or Jingdezhen ware.
