Persian (Royal Hunt) Lacquer on Board, Qajar Era 1789-1925
Intricate royal hunting scene of figures chasing game including a leopard and wild boar. Each with spear, bow and arrow, and firearms. Central scene with a medallion inscribed with illegible text. Reverse an old label reading Shckargahe Lettesoltan or more probably the famed hunting ground known as Shikargah. The hunting games were used as practices of war exercise where the encircling of the enemy was practiced. Size 17 1/2" W x 13 1/4" H
