Persian Painting of Jamshid, Lacquer Painting
Beautifully painted thick lacquer on board painting of the greatest King of the Pishdadian Dynasty. To this day the name Jam and Jamshid remain prominent names in Persian culture. In this depiction Jamshid is riding atop an armored war horse adorned with chainmail or a trapping. His saddle and mounts are all finely depicted. He rides with a sword at his side and a dagger in his waist. In the scene is also his trusted falcon on his right hand and his loyal dog following alongside. Reverse an old label reading (Rs 10-0, Jemshide-e-jam). The painting has a low relief to the details with raised areas to the figures and painting. Size 17" H x 12 1/2" W
