Ceremonial Bone Relief Carved Dagger & Scabbard, Mid-19th c.
Unusual and interesting ceremonial dagger with bone relief carved handle, flamberge waxy blade, and bone relief carved scabbard backed in felt, Mid-19th century. The handle with a distinct floral motif and pattern slightly upturned bone guard. Hand peened at the top of the handle and carved to both sides with a slight s-shape guard. Blade a double-edge wavy flamberge with diamond cross-section. Scabbard is carved in like relief patterns of floral motifs and scrolling probably French or colonial style with a at the base of the scabbard. Reverse an old brown felt backing bound to the scabbard with wire.
